Being strong in who you are

Do you know who you are? Can the opinions of others sway that? Are you a constant victim? Are you able to let go of what others say, in a timely manner? Do you hold the power to not respond or engage? Have you mastered not letting people get a rise out of you when they are committed to try and do it? Can you detach emotionally when needed and let your own ego go?

The Bible says in

Proverbs 19:11 (NIV)

“A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.”

Ecclesiastes 7:21-22 (NIV)

“Do not pay attention to every word people say, or you may hear your servant cursing you— for you know in your heart that many times you yourself have cursed others.”

Psalm 119:165 (KJV)

“Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.”

Being at true peace with who you are is kinda a big deal and underrated. You can’t put a price on the self confidence and strength it takes to not be shaken when someone tries to shake you.

After losing Josh, I had to relearn that it’s a true strength to not let the immaturity of others dictate how I respond. It takes work. If someone can’t control you, they may try to control how others view you. And If others view of you can change that easily, then those were never your people. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if you don’t throw a ball back in the court NO ONE CAN PLAY. Removing yourself from a situation when someone is committed to misunderstanding you or committed to arguing is a huge flex.. to me it’s a sign of emotional maturity! The key is letting your ego go. And if that wasn’t shaped in you growing up, it can be shaped in you through therapy to work on yourself. But you would have to want to emotionally mature and change.

“Develop a "teflon-Velcro” mindset. Aim to be "teflon" for the negative comments, allowing them to slide right off. Reserve your "velcro" for constructive feedback and positive affirmations, which you can hold onto.”

I’m so glad I know who I am, and That it can’t be easily shaken. I’m direct most of the time. I know where I stand with Jesus (and it isn’t just on Sundays). I know he fights my battles for me. I’m confident in my choices and decisions in daily life. I’m not going to argue with anyone. I will address it once but arguing accomplishes nothing. You think I’m amazing? Thank you! You think I’m a villain? Well, Aren’t we all one in someone’s story at some point in our life? You think I’m the coolest person ever? Awesome. You think I could improve? We all could somewhere. Point is, it doesn’t matter what another person thinks of you. It literally does not matter. People have opinions both good and bad. Opinions won’t dictate your own life if you don’t let it.

Question of the day….What do you think of yourself and is that strong enough to silence opinions?
