Downton Abbey

If you haven’t watched the series of Downton Abbey, and plan too, dont read any further! I rewatched it after a 5 year gap. I had forgotten a lot, and a lot more spoke to me than it did before.

  1. When Lady Mary loses her husband to a car accident, right after she birthed their son, it hit different. Like real diff. It really spot lighted with seeing her grieve, and seeing those around her all attempt in different ways ways to “fix” her. No one knew what to do, except the butler, who had watched Lady Mary grow up. He didn’t do anything but just be there and let her cry. She spoke on how the “her” that her husband knew, died with him. I would be lying if I said it didnt make me sad. Seeing a young widow, with a newborn baby, trying to figure it out just hits me right in my heart.

  2. During that time, it was unheard of to have a child out of wedlock, and though Lady Edith was to marry the man she was pregnant by, he was killed before they got to do so. She didn’t feel she could tell her mother or father, and had to confide in her distant aunt whom took her abroad to have the baby and give her away so it wouldn’t bring shame to the family. But that didnt sit well with Edith and she went back and got her baby, and raised her after a year or so. Having children changed a lot mindset wise for me. I can barely fathom not taking care of my kids. Oh it hurts my heart so much to empathize with the pain she felt.

  3. They had some drama, but they were way more composed and had killer poker faces. When someone inquired about something, and the other person said “Nothing to bother you with” Or “It’s nothing”, they didnt pry…… man could we learn some of that????????

  4. I wouldn’t be able to hang with them though LOL Not only are they always dressed like they are going to a ball, they also change attire 3 times a day….. and They stay doing dinner at 8pm….. EIGHT PM!!!!!!!! Or even later…. What? Why?? That is bedtime! I mean i wear the same sweat a few days in a row… lol Just being honest lol

  5. The grandma, whom was also in Harry Potter, was my all time favorite. I had forgotten just how funny she was. Very snarky and whitty. I caught myself laughing out loud often, which was so good for my soul.

Downton Abbey is on peacock 👏🏻 it was worth the rewatch even if it stirred up a lot of emotion for me.
